You can pre-plan a funeral without paying the funeral home directory by depositing money into a bank account for the benefit of the funeral home. You can also take advantage of pre-need services where you enter into an agreement with a funeral home and funds are kept in the name of the funeral home, as trustee for you. If you opt to pay the funeral home for pre-payment, be sure to request a Pre-Need Itemization Statement. Once you have made your selection, be sure to request the details of the price that is included in your pre-need arrangements. This includes merchandise, services and facilitation of your choice. A recent bill that passed which mandates that doctors who perform abortions and miscarriages to take extra measures, requiring doctors to cremate or bury fetal remains . However, patients will not be accountable on how the remains are handled. The patient’s physician, in accordance to law, must properly dispose or store the tissue. The law goes into effect September 1, 2017, however the issue of fetal burial is on tied up in the courts, therefore it’s on pause. Many hospitals already bury fetal remains; while some dispose of the remains in “sanitary landfills,” repositories for medical waste. Hospitals and clinic that does not bury or cremate fetal remains after miscarriage or an abortion is subject to fines or the loss of their license. COMMENTS
